About Ashburn

Ashburn Golf Club has been an integral part of the Halifax landscape since Governor General Lord Byng hit the ceremonial ball from the first tee of the Old Course in 1923. Now with two challenging 18-hole golf courses and a comprehensive practice facility, Ashburn takes its place among the leading private golf clubs in Canada.

Originally designed by Stanley Thompson, the Old Course remains a delightful green space just minutes from downtown Halifax. The 18-hole, par-67 layout is short but tight, and offers spectacular views of the city. Its modern clubhouse, which opened in 2000, is popular with members for dining, family occasions, banquets, weddings, and corporate functions.

The par-72 New Course, which opened in 1970, is located about 35 km north of Halifax in Fall River. Situated along 600 acres of rolling land beside Kinsac Lake, the championship course designed by Geoffrey Cornish is guaranteed to challenge any golfer. The New Course clubhouse, which opened in 2005, offers members a relaxed atmosphere and a private dining experience.

In 2008 Ashburn opened an extensive practice facility and driving range at the New Course, further enhancing members’ enjoyment of golf and social activities at the area’s premier private club.
